License plate reader catches woman driving stolen car in Greece, police say

Greece, N.Y. — A Rochester woman is facing charges in connection to a car that was stolen out-of-state.

Greece police said a license plate reader spotted a 2024 Kia that was reported stolen in New Jersey driving on West Ridge Road Saturday around 5:45 p.m. Notifications from other license plate readers in the area helped officers find the vehicle parked on Alecia Drive. The suspect driver, Niadashka Cruz Ayala, 27, was taken into custody.

“This case demonstrates the effective use of LPR technology by Greece Police officers to rapidly track, locate, and recover stolen vehicles, leading to the safe arrest of suspects and the return of valuable property,” the Greece Police Department said in a social media post Monday…
