AUSTIN, Texas — A woman shot near Zilker Park last week has been taken off of life support, her family confirmed to KVUE on Monday.
Kay Smith, known as “KC” to her loved ones, was allegedly shot by her boyfriend, 30-year-old Brandon Thompson near Azie Morton Road on Sept. 10. The Austin Police Department (APD) said Thompson fired shots that hit Smith in the head and an officer in the abdomen.
The officer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released. Smith was also taken to a hospital and was declared braindead that day…
