Water Woes: Opelousas Water Leak Repair

NEWS 15) — Parts of Acadiana are experiencing water woes from water main breaks, low water pressure, and other problems, resulting in some boil water advisories being issued.

ST. LANDRY PARISH:

  • The City of Opelousas conducted an emergency water leak repair at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and South Street. To allow crews to safely complete the work, the northbound lane at that location was closed but has since reopened.

IBERIA PARISH:

  • Franklin – The Franklin Water System violated drinking water requirements, exceeding turbidity limits multiple times from November through March 2025. Residents were informed of the situation as the water system failed to meet the standards set by the Surface Water Treatment Rule.
