The New York Times says this college dive bar in New Orleans is one of the best in the US

College towns are known for bars with sticky countertops, thunderous music and students consuming immense amounts of alcohol. But can they also have a good dive? The New York Times says it’s possible.

In a list released by The Athletic on Friday, ten college bars across the United States were recognized for at least one of three traits: a rich history, patrons who vary in age and a menu that stretches beyond cheap beer and drink specials. The ranking also highlighted the not-so-chic haunts packed with college kids who party until dawn.

The Boot, a bar and grill nestled among sorority and fraternity houses in Uptown New Orleans, made the list for its mix of debauchery — including its 50-cent shot nights — and history. “You can’t have any kind of bar list without an entry from New Orleans, right?” The Athletic said…
