MPD chief hopeful recruitment gains will lead to lower response times ‘in another year or two’

Minneapolis police response time came to light during a city council meeting Monday about next year’s department budget.

Minneapolis Police Department data shown during the meeting showed a 39% increase since 2020 in response time for Priority 1, or life-threatening crime calls.

Data showed the median time for priority calls was eight minutes and 29 seconds in 2025, compared to six minutes and six seconds to a call about five years ago…
