Massive new park would be largest added to Denver in 100-plus years

In case you haven’t heard, the City of Denver has acquired a massive swath of land that was formerly home to the Park Hill Golf Course via a land swap deal with hopes of creating what would become the city’s fourth-largest park.

The site, located on the metro area’s northeast side, was operated as the golf course from the 1930s until 2018. Following the city’s acquisition of the land in 2025, however, the goal became to convert 155 acres of space into what will be called Park Hill Park. If this plan comes to fruition, only three Denver city parks would be larger – Sloan’s Lake, City Park, and Washington Park. Per reporting from FOX31, this would also be the largest park opened by the city since Washington Park in 1911.

A formal planning effort for the park was launched in April of 2025 and it’s set to continue through December. During this planning phase, “we will work collaboratively with the community to develop a framework that charts a vision for the future of the site,” reads a statement on a website dedicated to facilitating discussion about the project.
