Seattle Base to Expand for New Coast Guard Icebreakers

The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded a $137 million contract to The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company for the first phase of a major expansion at its Seattle base. The project will dredge Slip 36 and build two ship berths designed to accommodate new Polar Security Cutters, the service’s next generation of heavy icebreakers.
