GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — We’re getting closer to the fall, and that means Thanksgiving.
Grand Rapids Public Schools on Monday opened registration for it annual Turkey Trot, celebrating with a special kickoff event outside Van Andel Arena.

“The GRPS Turkey Trot is a powerful reminder that community and wellness go hand in hand,” Joe Hune, vice president, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and president, West Michigan & Upper Peninsula Region, said. “We’re proud to continue to support this tradition that not only encourages healthy habits but also directly benefits student athletes across Grand Rapids.”
Each year, the Turkey Trot raises money for Grand Rapids Public Schools athletics, according to event organizers.
