Tourism spending in Bedford County hits record $82 million

Tourism in Bedford County reached an all-time high in 2024, with visitors generating $82.2 million in spending, according to newly released data from the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC). That marks a 25.2% increase since 2016, outpacing Virginia’s statewide growth of 20.9%.

Tourism continues to be a vital driver of Bedford County’s economy. In 2024, visitor activity supported 583 local jobs and contributed $3 million in local tax revenue, both increases from the previous year.

“This record growth demonstrates how tourism fuels our economy while enhancing quality of life for our residents,” said Bedford County Administrator Robert Hiss. “Tourism is an instant revenue generator and requires consistent engagement and investment to remain competitive.
