Suspect uses hammer to break into Hong Kong dessert shop in N Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — A Hong Kong dessert shop in north Austin was broken into early Sunday morning when a suspect smashed through the front door with a hammer, according to the business owner.

Hui Lau Shan, located at 7020 Easy Wind Dr., was broken into at 5:32 a.m. by a suspect dressed in all black, the business said on Instagram. The owner said the person “came prepared” and used a hammer to break through the glass door.

According to the Austin Police Department, the suspect was in a wheelchair when they approached the store. After breaking the door, they entered, took the cash register and left the scene. The suspect has not yet been identified…
