Downtown Tacoma has long been a city of character — brick facades, historic buildings, and a growing sense of community mixed with the energy of a modern city. Nestled on A Street in a corner building full of history sits En Rama, a restaurant that blends intimacy, craft, and scratch-made food with one of the largest patios in the area. While the space originally opened in 2017, its current chapter began in February 2024, when hospitality veterans Alexis and Zachary Taladay took the reins and transformed it into a thriving downtown destination.
The Taladays’ journey in hospitality spans more than two decades. “My husband and I have both been in the service industry for over 20 years,” Alexis shared. “We started as servers and bartenders in Seattle and have done every position in the front of house.” In 2015, they became operating partners in a Belltown bar, managing every aspect from service to operations. The move to Tacoma in 2018, paired with the pandemic, forced them to step back — but the couple never lost their entrepreneurial spark. When Zachary was laid off from a distributor job, they saw the chance to return to the restaurant industry, this time in a city they could call home.
