Robert Irwin, son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, made quite the splash on the season 34 premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Paired with pro Witney Carson, Irwin closed out the night with a high-energy jive to Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild,” complete with wildlife-themed flair. The performance earned the pair a score of 15 out of 20, tying them for the top spot on the leaderboard.

Irwin’s family, including mom Terri and sister Bindi (herself a DWTS champion), were in the audience cheering him on. Both took to social media afterwards to express their pride. Terri commented, “I am so proud,” on an Instagram post by the official DWTS account, while Bindi enthusiastically added, “CRIKEY!!!!!!”

The post was flooded with positive comments from fans and fellow celebrities alike. Former contestants Danny Amendola and Jenn Tran praised the performance, with many fans predicting a run to the finals for Irwin and Carson. One particularly touching comment read, “I’m still crying bc his dad would be so proud of him.”

Will Irwin follow in his sister’s footsteps and take home the Mirrorball Trophy? Tune in to DWTS on Tuesdays to find out!
