CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Advocates for people experiencing homelessness are hopeful they are part of the discussion centered around public safety and mental health.
This comes after the death of a Ukrainian woman on the Charlotte light rail last month.
Looking at the numbers
The annual Point in Time Count, conducted Jan. 22, 2025, found 444 people were experiencing unsheltered homelessness, the most since 2010, according to Mecklenburg County leaders.
