September 16, 2025: Campaign finance reports are in and Missel leads Smith in Albemarle’s Samuel Miller District race

Today’s edition is sponsored by the Ragged Mountain Running and Walking Shop

Four hundred and five years ago today, the Mayflower sailed forth from Plymouth, England, carrying 102 passengers and a crew of 30 on a two-month journey that ended in what is now Cape Cod. This event is remembered differently by different types of people, but none of us were there.

We rely on the work of historians and archivists to piece versions of what happened. Charlottesville Community Engagement is an attempt to stitch a small tapestry of whatever it is that is happening now. I’m Sean Tubbs, working without a pattern.

In today’s installment:
  • Governor Youngkin announces Eli Lilly and Company will invest $5 billion in a new pharmaceuticals production facility in Goochland County

  • In the Samuel Miller District race for Supervisor, Fred Missel outraises Scott Smith in the latest campaign finance reporting period

  • The latest campaign finance reports are in for races across Virginia and the Virginia Public Access Project has the numbers

  • The University of Virginia Board of Visitors agrees to a new public safety agreement with Albemarle County and Charlottesville

  • The same group gives a green light to Charlottesville City Schools to take over Oak Lawn property

  • The Jefferson Area Board of Aging will have Fall Ball tomorrow as part of the United Way’s Day of Caring

There’s no funding in the Town Crier Productions budget for marketing, so you can help out by sharing with others!…
