Security guard dies after golf cart veers off dock into canal in South Florida

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A tragic accident in Dania Beach has claimed the life of a security guard after his golf cart veered off a dock and into a canal, striking a yacht before sinking.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) said the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on September 14 at 2965 State Road 84. Deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a report of a possible drowning and discovered a golf cart submerged in the water. BSO’s Dive Team later recovered the body of Luckinson Pierre, 40, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings from BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit indicate that Pierre was driving the golf cart through a business parking lot when he drove through hedges and off the dock. The cart struck the starboard side of a yacht before plunging into the canal…
