A Summerfield man was arrested for driving with a suspended license for the second time in three weeks.
A deputy spotted a black Dodge Ram pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 441 and Northeast 138th Drive in Lady Lake around 10:20 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 50-year-old Daniel James Cole, did not have a valid license.
After stopping Cole, the deputy recognized him as the owner due to arresting him on Aug. 26 for driving with a suspended license. He still asked for a driver’s license, and Cole began pleading with the deputy. He knew his license was not valid but repeatedly asked to be let off with a warning, promising he would never drive again, the report said.
A check of Cole’s driving status showed Cole did not have a valid license due to a suspension active as of Aug. 25 from delinquent child support. He was notified of this at his residence on Aug. 4. Additionally, he had one prior conviction for driving while license suspended and had not yet appeared in court to answer for the same charge, the report said…
