City closes south Minneapolis homeless encampment after mass shooting

The city cleared a homeless encampment on private property in south Minneapolis on Tuesday following a mass shooting that injured seven people.

Mayor Jacob Frey ordered the immediate closure of the encampment as a result of the late Monday night shooting at East Lake Street and 28th Avenue South.

“Enough is enough,” Frey said during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “Given the urgent escalation of violence that has left so many people injured, some of them critically, it is necessary to close the encampment at the Sabri property.”…
