3 generations of a Colorado family honored for serving their country

BERTHOUD, Colo. (KDVR) — The Orton family has made military service a generational tradition. Richard Orton, 91, served in the Navy during the Korean War. His sons, Chris and Tim, both served in the Army; his grandson Alex served in the Army and his grandson Tim. Jr. was in the Navy.

So how do you show gratitude to a family that is so committed to serving their country? A veterans charity decided to wrap them in a blanket of thank yous — literally.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation, a non-profit that has awarded more than 420,000 handmade quilts to veterans and service members over the last two decades, honored the Orton family Monday in a ceremony at the Berthoud Fire Department.
