Masked suspect accused of robbing multiple Southeast Portland businesses in summer spree

PORTLAND, Ore. — Earlier this month, a Portland man was arrested and charged in a series of Southeast Portland robberies, accused of wearing different masks and using pellet guns to intimidate clerks and steal hundreds of dollars in cash.

On Monday, Multnomah County prosecutors argued that suspect Justin Christiansen should remain behind bars. A judge agreed, deeming seven of the eight alleged robberies violent felonies and granting the state’s request for preventative detention.

“Based on the circumstances, I agree that potentially one incident in and of itself doesn’t necessarily rise to that level, but what we have here is a series of very concerning behavior,” the judge said…
