‘A crazy turn of events:’ Grocery store security guard shot over receipt

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Kendrick McFarland was shot while working security at the Carrs grocery store on Minnesota Drive and Northern Lights Boulevard on Sunday, Sept. 7.

McFarland said he had been working that morning since about 5 a.m., mostly checking receipts at the door, when around 8:30 a.m. he asked a man to present his receipt, at which point the man pulled a gun, and shot him.

“[I] don’t know the gentleman,” McFarland said. “The gentleman don’t know me, I don’t guess. You know, we don’t know each other, and it was just a crazy turn of events.”…
