BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem officials on Tuesday addressed the challenge of supporting unhoused residents as winter approaches and a Dec. 15 notice to vacate looms for encampments under the Hill-to-Hill Bridge.
The order stems from a request by Norfolk Southern, which owns the property along the Lehigh River. Police Chief Michelle Kott said the company asked her department to post signs by Sept. 15 informing encampment residents that they must relocate.
“Our goal right now is not sweeps,” she said. “Our goal right now is to try to get people housing, to try to get people help. The last thing we want to do is go down there and have to arrest somebody.”…
