Georgia Weather Alert: Heavy Thunderstorms to Impact Atlanta Drivers on I-75 Tonight

ATLANTA, Ga. — Drivers in metro Atlanta are being urged to use caution as isolated thunderstorms move across North Georgia tonight, bringing the potential for slick highways, reduced visibility, and sudden lightning strikes.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City said the storms will continue through late Tuesday evening, with some activity tapering off closer to midnight.

Evening Commute Risks on I-75 and Beyond

Forecasters warned that the storms could be disruptive for commuters traveling on I-75, I-20, and I-285, especially during heavier downpours that may temporarily flood low-lying lanes.

Even though severe weather is not expected, the combination of wet pavement, gusty winds, and limited visibility can increase accident risks. Meteorologists are reminding drivers to:
