Gettysburg enforces new ‘Quality of Life’ ordinance

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– Gettysburg has a new way of issuing property violations.

The borough passed a quality of life ordinance last month, modeled after many municipalities that have similar ones. In Harrisburg, grass can’t be longer than 10 inches. In Gettysburg, it’s eight inches. Harrisburg also has trash requirements and requires buildings to display their addresses clearly. The city says every building must post large, contrasting house numbers visible from the street so first responders and the public can identify the address.
