Beacon Health plans to invest $70 million this year and next year on equipment and technology upgrades at the former Ascension Borgess operations in Southwest Michigan.
The short-term capital commitment comes less than three months after the South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health acquired Ascension Borgess in a deal that included the flagship 372-bed Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo; community hospitals in Allegan, Dowagiac and Plainwell; 35 outpatient centers; and an ambulatory surgery center.
“We have really high-level physicians with tremendous capabilities that need the equipment to match,” Beacon Health CEO Kreg Gruber said in an interview with Crain’s Grand Rapids Business. “It’s just the right thing to do to make sure there’s good care going on.”…
