‘Blessing’: Nonprofit pays off, renovates injured Lansing veteran’s home

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Tunnels to Towers Foundation has paid off and renovated the home of U.S. Army Sgt. Jeremy Ramirez, a Lansing veteran injured while serving in Iraq.

“It’s a blessing. Tunnel to Towers not only paid off my mortgage but made renovations to my home to make my life and my family’s life easier,” said Ramirez.

Ramirez decided to join the military because of his role models — and as a result of 9/11, which left Ramirez with a “strong pull to enlist.” He says he decided serving in the military was his life’s purposes.

Ramirez enlisted in the Army in 2005 and was deployed to Iraq. There, his team was ambushed in Baghdad, struck by a 500 lbs. pressure plate IED in an incident that killed four soldiers and injured six others, including Ramirez…
