UPDATE: Suspect Accused of Opening Fire on Crowd in Old Fort Park was Free on Bond when Shooting Unfolded

MONDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Murfreesboro, TN – Here’s an update on Tavarious Chambers, the suspect charged by Murfreesboro Police with six counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence. When the shooting occurred this past Saturday night, Chambers had only been free on bond for four weeks and six days, due to previously filed charges.

In August, Chambers was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Assault (T.C.A. 39-13-102). That case began with a criminal investigation on August 7, and led to his arrest one day later. On August 11, he posted a $3,000 bond and was scheduled to appear before a judge on September 25, 2025.

Just 34 days after his arrest on the domestic violence charge, Chambers was taken into custody again—this time in connection with the attempted murder case that unfolded over the weekend. On Sunday, he was charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit arrested Chambers less than 24 hours after he allegedly opened fire into a crowd of people attending a reunion at a pavilion in Old Fort Park, located off Old Fort Parkway near the New Salem Highway intersection…
