VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Cleveland Clinic Florida is taking an unexpected step into the housing sector as it considers plans to help address the urgent need for affordable and workforce housing in Indian River County. The hospital system is exploring options to either donate or sell, at a nominal fee, a nearly 14-acre plot of land to facilitate the development of new housing options.
Kelly Hensley, the Regional Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations for Cleveland Clinic Florida, tells CBS12 News the land, located at the northeast corner of U.S. 1 and 61st Street in Vero Beach, was donated to the hospital.
Although Cleveland Clinic Florida will not participate in the development itself, it has accepted proposals from developers to determine the best way to serve the community’s housing needs…
