STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island residents should prepare for a wet and windy Wednesday, with scattered showers and potential thunderstorms expected throughout the day. The National Weather Service also warns of a high risk for rip currents at area beaches through Wednesday evening.
According to the weather service, scattered showers will develop Wednesday afternoon, primarily along the coastal areas. Temperatures will remain mild, reaching the upper 60s and low 70s. Easterly winds could gust up to 20 mph, creating challenging conditions near the shore.
The weather service indicates that while the day won’t be a complete washout, periodic showers are likely, especially this afternoon and evening.
