ELKTON — A man accused of beating, choking and raping a woman inside an Elkton motel room in September 2024 has been acquitted of all sex-related charges filed against him, including first-degree rape, after a five-day-long jury trial concluded last week, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.
But the jurors were unable to reach verdicts regarding related charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault that had been filed against the defendant — Lawrence Wilson, 45, of Millington — and, as a result, Cecil County Circuit Court Judge Robert A. Sentman declared a mistrial as to those two counts.
So Wilson still faces the assault charges, according to court records, which indicate that he is scheduled to appear for an Oct. 7 status conference relating to them.
