The casing of the guidons marked the close of a storied chapter Sep. 6, as the 924th Fighter Group formally inactivated at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. With roots stretching back to World War II and a lineage carried through multiple generations of Airmen, the group’s most recent chapter centered on A-10 Thunderbolt II operations in southern Arizona.
