Los Angeles—The body found in the trunk of a towed Tesla registered to singer D4vd has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed Wednesday. Rivas, from Lake Elsinore, had been reported missing last year.
The vehicle was towed on September 8th from a Hollywood street and taken to an impound lot. Two days later, authorities were alerted to a foul odor emanating from the car, leading to the grim discovery.
The Tesla is registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd. A senior LAPD source indicated that the musician owns several vehicles, which are frequently used by various individuals.
The circumstances surrounding Rivas’s death and how she ended up in the car’s front trunk remain under investigation by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division. The cause of death is yet to be determined, and no arrests have been made.
The medical examiner’s description of Rivas includes that she was approximately 5-foot-1 with wavy black hair. She was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings.
She also had a tattoo reading “Shhh…” on her right index finger. Investigators noted that the body was in a state of decomposition, suggesting she had been deceased for a period of time.
D4vd’s representatives and lawyer have not responded to requests for comment. The singer, known for his indie, R&B, and alt-pop music, cancelled a Wednesday concert in Seattle as part of his “Withered” world tour. A Los Angeles performance is scheduled for Saturday.
