HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Hamilton County Commissioners have passed two resolutions concerning a former deputy, saying they’ll neither defend Daniel Wilkey nor compensate him for two federal lawsuits, despite court rulings in his favor or dismissals.
Wilkey’s attorney argued that the county has defended other deputies in similar situations but took a “wait and see approach” with Wilkey.
Last year, a federal jury ruled in favor of Wilkey in a civil lawsuit stemming from a 2019 excessive force case.
