Bedding company to end Georgetown operation, laying off 100 employees

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Georgetown adjustable bedding operation owned by Leggett & Platt announced earlier this month that it will close down, eliminating 100 of the 122 jobs that the facility employs.

The Missouri-based designer of bedding, textiles, and other specialized products announced on Sept. 10 that the majority of 122 total positions in Georgetown would be eliminated, in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

Michael Altman, director of employee and labor relations, wrote that the decision was “a result of difficult business conditions,” with the intention of increasing the organization’s overall efficiency.

Company leaders said that based on current information, Leggett & Platt expected to begin eliminating the positions on Nov. 10, with all positions gone by the end of the first quarter of 2026…
