Driver accused of leading police on chase dies after crash in downtown Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. — A suspect involved in a police chase that ended with a crash in downtown Rochester has died, police announced Wednesday.

Officers responded to Sunoco at West Main and Reynolds streets around 1:50 a.m. Saturday for a report of menacing with a handgun. Police said a victim reported someone in a white SUV pointed a handgun at them during an argument.

The officers attempted to stop an SUV that was pulling out of the parking led, according to police, but it fled eastbound and led them on a pursuit that ended when the SUV was involved in a chain-reaction crash near the Liberty Pole that involved four other vehicles, including a City of Rochester security vehicle…
