A San Diego man who twice landed a small plane on a restricted island owned by the U.S. Navy, then stole a government truck and rammed it through locked gates, has pleaded guilty to federal charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced Monday.
Andrew Kyle White, 37, admitted in court that he illegally landed his Glastar airplane on San Clemente Island in October 2023 and again in April 2025. San Clemente Island, part of Naval Base Coronado, is owned and operated by the U.S. Navy, and access is prohibited without official permission.
After his first landing in 2023, White was issued a formal letter warning him that returning to the island would be a federal crime. But on April 6, 2025, prosecutors said, he returned anyway — this time stealing a white Ford F-150 worth about $16,000. He drove the truck across the island and smashed through locked gates to reach restricted areas, causing more than $8,000 in property damage before abandoning the vehicle…
