Bryan Health Opens Up Time Capsule from 1987

LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 16)–A time capsule that was put into the wall of the old front entry way of Bryan East Campus nearly 40 years ago was removed and opened Tuesday afternoon, about a year ahead of originally scheduled.

When the blue time capsule was placed in the wall on June 5, 1987 to celebrate the hospital’s 60 years of service at that point, the intent was to opening it up in 2026. Expansions and other upgrades were made in the main entry area that were previously the outside of what was then known as Bryan Memorial Hospital. Tom Henning was a member of the Bryan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees in 1987 when the time capsule was put together. He recalled the time when the board bought the first MRI machine and the hospital did the first heart transplant in Lincoln.
