The Lafayette Downtown Developmental Authority on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution that authorized preparatory actions for the purchase or lease of a new building.
The DDA’s board of directors made the decision following a pitch by DDA CEO Kevin Blanchard. While the resolution allows the DDA to take preliminary action toward the purchase or lease of a new building, a separate resolution will need to be approved for the DDA to enter into any binding commitments.
When asked about an ideal space for the new location, Blanchard expressed a desire for “something older, with a storefront, and has around 4,400 square feet of space … the idea is to find something we can revitalize because that’s what our mission is about.
