METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) – Jefferson Parish on Wednesday (Sept. 17) announced an improved standing in FEMA’s Community Rating System. This federal program offers flood insurance discounts based on mitigation efforts and projects.
The parish stated that unincorporated areas are now eligible to transition from a Class 5 rating — which provides a 25% discount on federally backed flood insurance policies — to a Class 3 rating, offering a 35% discount.
