Hollywood and fans are reacting strongly to the indefinite suspension of late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. The suspension follows comments Kimmel made regarding the individual responsible for the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Comedian Kathy Griffin has been particularly vocal in her support of Kimmel, urging her followers on Instagram to rally behind him. Griffin encouraged her fans to be outspoken and to “be an ideological consumer,” suggesting that financial pressure could be influential.
Griffin’s post generated a flurry of responses, with many echoing her call to action. Several commenters advocated for boycotts of Disney, Hulu, and ABC, the network that airs “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Some even shared specific instructions on how to register their protest when canceling subscriptions. However, not everyone agreed with Griffin’s stance.
Some comments expressed support for Charlie Kirk, while others criticized Griffin for what they perceived as celebrating Kirk’s death.
This isn’t Griffin’s first brush with controversy. In 2017, she faced significant backlash after sharing an image of herself holding a prop resembling the severed head of then-President Donald Trump. The incident resulted in the loss of her CNN New Year’s Eve hosting gig, endorsement deals, and tour cancellations.
Kimmel’s suspension has also drawn responses from other prominent figures, including Ben Stiller and Melissa Gilbert, further fueling the ongoing debate.
