LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer is warning that federal tariff policies are taking a toll on Michigan’s economy, driving up costs for families and businesses.
“Michigan’s two largest and most critical industries, autos and agriculture, are hit the hardest,” Whitmer said during her Protect and Defend Michigan’s Economy address at the Capitol. “We’re already seeing rising costs because of the tariffs.”
Small businesses say they’re also feeling the pressure. Casey Sorrow, owner of Odd Nodd Art Supply in Lansing’s Old Town, said, “I’ve been selling art supplies for 20 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this year as far as price increases.”…
