‘Keeping your firearm in a locked vehicle is not safe storage’: Hundreds of firearms stolen from cars across Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department has said that guns are have been stolen from cars at an alarming rate. Now, police have pleaded with Nashvillians to lock their vehicles and secure their firearms.

According to the MNPD’s map of stolen firearms, between September 2024 and this month, more than 1,300 firearms have been stolen, and about three quarters of those were stolen from vehicles. The Hermitage, Central and Midtown Hills precincts led the pack with the number of stolen guns.

“Keeping your firearm in a locked vehicle is not secure storage,” Director of Communications for Voices for a Safer Tennessee, Jessica Jaglois, said.
