Snow ratio explained: If the rain were snow

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — The coastal low Tuesday had a lot of moisture and dumped a lot of rain across Hampton Roads.

Many communities across the Eastern Shore saw around 3.5 inches of rain. The Peninsulas saw four-to-six inches Southside picked up the highest rain totals. Along the coast of Virginia Beach, rain totals ranged from 8.33 in in Nimmo to 11.68 inches in a bullseye over Great Neck.

Areas a little more inland from the Atlantic Ocean picked up 3 to 5 inches of rain. Inland past Suffolk picked up around 1 inch. Not as much rain fell across northeastern North Carolina, with totals ranged from 0.04 inches in Edenton up to 1.5 inches in Moyock…
