Mysterious object prompts investigation at Vero Beach; law enforcement agencies on scene

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A mysterious object washed ashore in Vero Beach.

On Thursday morning, the Vero Beach Police Department (VBPD) said a potentially hazardous object had washed ashore near 1100 Olde Doubloon Drive, prompting a coordinated response from local and federal agencies.

Police said the object may be a military flare, and out of an abundance of caution, the St. Lucie County bomb squad and personnel from Patrick Air Force Base have been dispatched to investigate…
