LPD receives about 14,722 emergency calls each month, and the FBI provided updated stats that show demographics of violent crimes from 2019 to 2024 in the Hub City:

  • Homicide
    • 50 offenders were between the ages of 20 and 29
    • 61 homicides occurred at home
    • 51 were committed by a complete stranger; only 8 by a romantic partner
    • 65 were through the use of a firearm; 10 from knife attacks
  • Robbery
    • 851 offenders were between the ages of 20 and 29
    • 942 were through the use of personal weapons; 170 cases involved knives as weapons
  • Aggravated Assault
    • 2,316 offenders were between the ages of 20 and 29
    • 1,369 were through the use of a knife or cutting tool; 951 from firearms
