An Elgin man, a U.S. citizen and native of Texas, told NBC 5 Investigates he was briefly detained by immigration enforcement agents following an early morning raid at his home Elgin.
Joe Botello told NBC 5 Investigates by phone that “they came in and they got a couple of my roommates. I showed them my ID,” he said. “They moved me from one patrol car to another one. Two or three people asked me (for ID) and after that they let me go.”
Botello said the ICE enforcement operation happened between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. in the 900 block of Chippewa in Elgin. He said the agents broke down the front door and back glass patio window…
