A new Charlotte walking club geared towards women aims to bring the movement and social perks of run clubs at a slower pace.
Why it matters: Charlotte is flooded with run clubs that double as fitness groups and social hubs, especially for Gen Z (some say they’re the new dating apps). But if you’re not a runner, tagging along can feel intimidating.
Driving the news: Charlottean Allison Petro is starting CLT Walk Club to give women a chance to connect and get their steps in, without needing to be a runner.
- “I think they’re great, but I’m just not a runner. It’s not in the cards for me,” Petro tells Axios.
If you go: The first walk for CLT Walk Club is scheduled for Sept. 23 at 6:30pm.
- The group will meet on the Rail Trail in South End, outside of Trolley Barn by the wooden steps at 2104 South Blvd.
What’s next: Petro hopes to add wine stops and other meetups so members can connect off the trail, too…
