A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly punching his neighbor when confronted about selling narcotics to his sister.
An officer responded to a battery involving 68-year-old James Marshall Bennington at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 6:10 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Bennington advised that he went to his neighbor’s place to discuss rumors being spread about him. When he got there, the neighbor stepped out before he could even knock on his door, and a verbal altercation ensued. The neighbor was in his face, threatening to beat him down, so he tried to walk away, the report said.
The neighbor then grabbed his shirt, causing it to tear, and spat in his face. That was when Bennington punched him several times to get away. As this happened, his wife, the neighbor’s girlfriend and another neighbor ran over to break up the fight. He proceeded to walk away and returned to his residence, the report said…
