LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Extradition hearings are underway in Lancaster County District Court for the man accused of killing a Wisconsin woman and then leading authorities on a chase through Nebraska with her dead body in the back seat.
Governor Jim Pillen signed an arrest warrant for Gavin Thompson, 23, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin on Sept. 5 to formally begin the process of extraditing him back to Wisconsin, where the homicide allegedly happened. It came at the request of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
Based off the Wisconsin investigation, the Dodgeville Police Department filed a criminal complaint with the local district attorney for the following charges against Thompson:
- First-degree intentional homicide
- Burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon
- Hiding a corpse
- Operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent
Thompson was supposed to be extradited back to Wisconsin the week he was arrested in Nebraska, according to the Dodgeville Police Department, but it’s been put on hold until after the Lancaster County charges have been taken care of…
