NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The abnormally dry weather has already shown up on the drought monitor for Louisiana recently, and long-range guidance suggests it may get worse.
The Drought Monitor is released every Thursday morning. It’s a report on how much rain has or hasn’t fallen, how dry the soil is, river levels, and even how healthy the local vegetation is.
As of the September 18 release, most of Southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi are considered abnormally dry. There is a small area of moderate drought on the Northshore.
