ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KOAT) – A family is mourning a husband and father who worked at a New Mexico auto parts store after deputies say he and his coworker were shot and killed in a dispute over an oil filter.
Richard Newman, 47, and Jesus Valdez, 18, were shot and killed Sunday evening while working at an O’Reilly Auto Parts store in Albuquerque. Witnesses told deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office that the two victims were arguing with a customer, identified as 27-year-old Ismael Tena, over an oil filter.
Tena’s father told deputies they went to the store to exchange the oil filter and asked for two extra containers of oil since the originals were wasted due to “incorrect filters.” According to the arrest affidavit, Tena got upset and grabbed two oil containers and walked out…
